Police to Review Campaign Material After Election Fraud Allegations
Police are set to review the campaign material of Robert Largan, the Conservative candidate for High Peak in Derbyshire, following allegations of election fraud. The complaints primarily focus on social media posts by Mr. Largan, who previously served as an MP.
In two controversial posts, Largan used vivid red and turquoise backgrounds, typically associated with Labour and Reform UK parties, with slogans "Labour for Largan" and "Reform for Robert." He stated that many local Labour and Reform voters intended to vote for him, leading him to establish "Labour for Largan" and "Reform for Robert" clubs.
Derbyshire Police confirmed they received multiple messages raising concerns about the marketing material, prompting the creation and review of an incident. The Conservative Party emphasized that the materials comply with electoral law, featuring the necessary imprints. Largan asserts his actions are lawful.
