Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has unveiled the trailer for her forthcoming podcast, "Confessions of a Female Founder," which is set for release on April 8, 2024. The podcast, produced in collaboration with Lemonada Media, aims to explore the journeys of female entrepreneurs, providing insights into their successes and struggles.

In the one-minute preview shared online, Meghan introduces herself, stating, “I'm Meghan, and this is Confessions of a Female Founder, a show where I chat with female entrepreneurs and friends...” She highlights the podcast’s focus on sharing "the kind of advice that turns small ideas into billion-dollar businesses" as well as personal anecdotes from her guests about their entrepreneurial paths.

The preview features snippets of conversations with various guests discussing the challenges they've faced. One guest reflects on their experience of unlimited growth, saying, “It just started climbing and climbing,” while another expresses their ideals, stating, “I knew in that moment that I’d rather stand for something than sell a whole ton of product and stand for nothing.” The Duchess also shares a light-hearted moment querying a guest about their relationship status, suggesting a friendly and informal tone for the show.

Meghan noted the significance of connecting with other female founders, stating, “What’s been meaningful is being able to talk about my own entrepreneurial journey with other female founders who are either on their own trajectory of growth or have IPO'd...” She emphasises the learning experience inherent in entrepreneurship, mentioning how her personal experience reflects the broader journey many women take as they navigate their careers.

The podcast was initially announced on March 13. Meghan described her desire for “candid conversations” with “amazing women.” She expressed enthusiasm on her Instagram about the project, describing the recording sessions as “eye-opening, inspiring…and fun!” This release follows the controversial receptions of her Netflix series, "With Love, Meghan," and the single-season run of her previous podcast, "Archetypes," which was part of her deal with Spotify.

In conjunction with her podcast, Markle has also faced scrutiny regarding her recently launched lifestyle brand, "As Ever." She promoted the brand by sharing a personal photograph featuring her children, Archie and Lilibet, igniting comments about the appropriateness of involving her children in business promotions. Critics, including former royal press secretary Dickie Arbiter, described this move as "tacky" and indicative of desperation. He stated, “It’s a mixture of a lack of imagination and desperation... They left the UK because they wanted privacy.”

Meghan's lifestyle brand features a curated selection of clothing and accessories, with items priced at a premium, including a gown costing over £1,000. The shopping platform "ShopMy" allows her to earn commissions on sales through her recommendations. Despite the pushback surrounding her marketing strategies, the brand has attracted a significant following of 734,000 on social media.

As Meghan embarks on these new ventures, her approach increasingly combines her background in acting and her commitment to empowering women in business, continuing to capture public interest amidst a mixture of support and criticism.
