The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has intensified, making the delivery of aid increasingly challenging. Civil society is deteriorating, with civilians facing severe shortages and resorting to desperate measures for the limited aid available. Ongoing military operations and a breakdown in law and order have created an unsafe environment for humanitarian workers.
Temporary tactical pauses announced for delivering aid have not improved security conditions. Current updates from humanitarian organizations indicate that aid operations are at risk of failing without intervention. Despite calls for all parties to uphold international legal responsibilities—including protecting civilians, ensuring access to basic services, and allowing safe humanitarian operations—aid remains blocked at the borders of Egypt and Jordan. This includes substantial EU-funded assistance, much of which is perishable.
Efforts to deliver aid have included 56 humanitarian air bridge flights since last October, with the most recent occurring last week. However, without secure access within Gaza, these efforts are rendered ineffective. There is a call for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, civilian protection, and coordinated action to ensure the delivery of essential aid to Gaza's population.
